
Visitors look at some of the about 50 roses cultivated in memory of Holocaust victim Anne Frank (1929-45) at Anne's Rose Church in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture. Anne's father Otto Frank gave the rose variety, named "Souvenir of Anne Frank," to the church's congregation in 1972 as a symbol of peace. The roses began to blossom this year on April 19, changing colors from orange to yellow to pink over the course of two weeks. They will peak around May 10.
