In meeting with PM Narendra Modi, Goa CM Pramod Sawant seeks guidance on development

PANAJI: Chief minister Pramod Sawant met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday — his first meeting after becoming chief minister for the second time — and discussed various issues pertaining to the state.

He also sought guidance from the Prime Minister regarding Goa’s development and talked about preparedness for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the ongoing national highway expansion project and the Mopa international airport, as well as progress made on Swayampurna Goa 2.0.

Sawant will attend a conclave of chief ministers and chief justices of high courts in New Delhi on Saturday.

Before he was sworn in as chief minister of Goa, Modi had assured him of full support from the Union government for Goa’s progress. Sawant had also recently met with home minister Amit Shah over mining issues, and it was decided that all the mining leases — including the 88 whose second renewal was quashed by the Supreme Court — would be auctioned.
