In Kolhapur, over 29 hectare to be acquired for Nagpur-Ratnagiri NH

KOLHAPUR: The land acquisition survey of the area proposed for the Nagpur-Ratnagiri National highway has been completed and road transport and highway ministry has published the notification.

A total of 29.158 hectare from 16 villages falling in the agricultural belt of Kolhapur district will be acquired for this project.

The gazette notification reads: “As per the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3A of the National Highways Act, 1956, the central government intends to acquire the land for building, maintenance, management and operation of NH-166 in the district of Kolhapur.”

If any person has any objection in this case, then they can raise their objection within 21 days of publishing of the official gazette to the deputy collector, Kolhapur in writing.

The land to be acquired falls in the Nagaon, Toap, Bhuye, Bhuyewadi, Jatharwadi, Kerle, Kerli, Nigave Dumala, Padvalwadi, Shiye, Ambawade, Borpadale, Danewadi, Kushire, Navali, Pimpale-Satave from three tehsils of Hatkanangle, Karveer and Panhala in Kolhapur district. The largest land parcel is in Padvalwadi.

Meanwhile, a section of the villagers still feel that the land acquisition is unjust. Rohit Patil, a villager from Bhuyewadi village, said, “The land acquisition notification published today is of the land owners, who are ready to give their land. The villagers, who opposed to give their land and didn’t allow the land mapping and survey to take place, have not been mentioned in this.”

He added, “The villagers whose land is at some distance from the main road will be getting very less value than the actual even if the government gives four times the ready-reckoner rate. The administration is trying to put pressure on the villagers by spreading false rumours about land acquisition and injustice is being done to us by the government.”
