Demonstrators in Sudan remain camped out in the capital Khartoum, nearly two weeks after the country’s army removed President Omar al-Bashir from power on April 11, ending his 30-year rule.
The protesters say the ruling military council that took the helm in Sudan is little different from the veteran leader the army toppled after months of street protests. The military council, for its part, says it is examining the demonstrators’ demands.
In an effort to keep sustained pressure on the military, the protesters have been staging their demonstrations night and day, holding concerts and mounting memorials to the dead, keeping a crowd in the streets around the clock to press for democracy and civilian rule.
FRANCE 24’s correspondents spoke to the demonstrators in the Sudanese capital.
