INDORE: Indore achieved 100% vaccination of its 18-plus urban population on Friday, the third municipal corporation area in Madhya Pradesh to do so.
The entire eligible population of Indore has got at least one dose of the vaccine, say officials. By Friday evening, 18.82 lakh people in Indore municipal limits had been vaccinated against the target of 18.81, said district immunisation in-charge Dr Tarun Gupta.
Shahdol was the first to get there in MP, followed by Dewas around three days ago with 2.31 lakh Covid vaccinations.
However, the pace of the vaccination has slowed down since the mega drive in June because of vaccine shortages created due to diversion to districts with lower first-dose coverage, say sources.
Vaccination centres have been getting low response over the past couple of weeks. On Friday, only 16,607 doses were given in the entire district though the target was 1 lakh at each urban centre.
Indore district’s vaccination count stood at 32.59 lakh doses on Friday, 25.75 lakh of which are first doses. It’s inching closer to the target of 28 lakh first doses in accordance with electoral rolls.
