In Houston win, Kevin Porter Jr. records first NBA career triple-double

One week ago, the Houston Rockets had lost 15 straight games. But for over half of that streak, young point guard Kevin Porter Jr. was either limited by a left thigh contusion or sidelined altogether with the injury.

Now, since Porter’s return, the Rockets are 3-0 after wrapping up a perfect homestand at Toyota Center. The 21-year-old known as “KPJ” is a big reason why, and in Monday’s convincing win over Oklahoma City, he registered the first triple-double (11 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds) of his NBA career as Houston rolled to a 102-89 victory (analysis).

“Just be me,” Porter said of his recent success with the Rockets (4-16). “I’ve been trying to be something I’m not. After that injury, I was able to observe, and I came back out and played my game.”

See below for a roundup of Porter’s highlights from Monday night’s big victory. KPJ and the Rockets will look to extend the winning streak to four on Wednesday night against those same Thunder (6-14), with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m. Central from Oklahoma City.
