In case you didn’t know, the Vikings are last in salary cap space

Free agency will start up March 18, and teams that want to be buyers will have to create enough cap space to do so.

So here are the cap rankings as of now, and if the Vikings are any indication, they have a lot of work to do.

According to Over The Cap, Minnesota is dead last in the league when it comes to cap space. The team has just more than $1.3 million in available space.

That money is not enough to sign really anybody, not even Everson Griffen, who might return to the team on a smaller salary after voiding his contract.

Minnesota looks like it’s in trouble at the moment, especially if the team doesn’t try to extend Kirk Cousins before free agency. Extending him could make it so his contract is less than a $31 million salary cap hit on this season.

That could create space, but Minnesota could also cut players like Xavier Rhodes, Linval Joseph and Riley Reiff in order to free up space.
