Brad Pitt is getting back together with old flame Gwyneth Paltrow for the political drama Dirty Tricks. The film centres on the aftermath of the Watergate scandal and will mark the first time the pair have appeared on screen together since Seven came out 12 years ago. Providing additional distraction on Dirty Tricks are Annette Bening, Meryl Streep and Sharon Stone.
Catalina Sandino Moreno, who shot to recognition with her role as a drug mule in the 2004 drama Maria Full of Grace, has joined Steven Soderbergh's two Spanish-language Che Guevara projects The Argentine and Guerrilla. Benicio Del Toro will play the Latin American revolutionary in the companion biopics, which begins filming in Spain next week.
Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman have joined the ensemble cast of Bottle Shock, which chronicles the arrival of northern California as a world-class wine producing region. The story will take place in the 1970s and charts the rise of the Montelena Winery in Napa Valley. Rickman will play the organiser of a blind tasting challenge that produces the winery's breakthrough triumph.
Tom Cruise is preparing to fly back from the German set of wartime thriller Valkyrie this weekend to attend a party in honour of newly arrived Los Angelinos David and Victoria Beckham. The 600-guest invite-only event is being hosted by Cruise's wife Katie Holmes and Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. Meanwhile the first photographs have appeared online showing Cruise in uniform as Claus von Stauffenberg, the German colonel who attempted to assassinate Hitler in a 1944 plot. The film is scheduled for release through Cruise's revived United Artists studio in August 2008.
Barely one week after checking out of the Promises rehab clinic in Malibu, Lindsay Lohan has turned herself into police for fingerprinting yesterday on suspicion of driving under the influence. The incident did, however, take place on May 26, when the starlet allegedly lost control of her Mercedes convertible on Sunset Boulevard and drove into the curb. A court date has been set for August 24.
