In brief: Kidman seeks restraining order against paparazzi

Nicole Kidman is seeking a restraining order against two photographers after a bugging device was found outside her Sydney home. The device was discovered by security staff and CCTV footage reportedly identifies two members of the Australian paparazzi. Kidman is in town to shoot the film Eucalyptus, alongside Russell Crowe. "She's concerned that people will not let her alone," her father Antony told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "She's here to make a film and she wants to promote Australia, and she's almost a prisoner in her own home as a result."

Drew Barrymore has signed on to star opposite Hulk actor Eric Bana in the poker caper Lucky You. She will play a singer who falls in with a professional card shark while working in Vegas. 8 Mile's Curtis Hanson is in the director's chair and production begins in March.

Elektra, the Daredevil spin-off starring Jennifer Garner, has already had a tough time from the critics, with the Observer's Philip French dubbing it "a rock-bottom martial arts movie" and the Guardian's Peter Bradshaw remarking on its "strange ennui". But the most dismissive review is reported to come from the star herself, who has labelled Elektra "awful". In an interview with US Weekly, Garner's ex-boyfriend Michael Vartan said of the film: "I heard it was awful. [Jennifer] called me and told me it was awful. She had to do it because of Daredevil. It was in her contract." So far Garner's (reported) comments have not been used on the Elektra publicity material.
