Ethan Hawke (pictured) has told of the tedium of being in the director's chair for his new project, Last Word on Paradise. He told the Sunday Times magazine, "It has been an unbelievable amount of work. I had no idea how tedious directing could be." An ensemble piece, the film, which follows the activities of 30 people staying in the infamous Chelsea Hotel in New York, will star his wife, Uma Thurman, Natasha Richardson and Kris Kristofferson, and features a score by Yoko Ono. Hawke will next be seen playing the dithering protagonist in a modernised version of Hamlet which will be released in the UK on 15 December.
Following the news that Elizabeth Hurley is close to landing a $4.2m (£2.96m) deal to advertise a 'revolutionary' gel-filled bra, the Daily Mirror have reported that 35-year-old Hurley has, after weeks of speculation, also re-signed to her £2 million-a-year contract with Estee Lauder. The Bedazzled star is said to be 'ecstatic' over the deal after suggestions that she was perhaps a bit long in the tooth to front a cosmetics campaign. In the event the British star came out on top, beating off tough competition from her junior of seven years, Gwyneth Paltrow.
Geena Davis is set to marry husband number four according to American film site Mr Showbiz. The 44-year-old Thelma and Louise star will marry Reza Jarrahy, a California surgeon who is 16 years her junior, after a two-year relationship. Davis was formerly hitched to actor Jeff Goldblum, director Renny Harlin and restaurant manager Richard Emmolo.
The seven actors who played the all singing, all dancing Von Trapp children in The Sound of Music have been reunited for the first time since the film was released 35 years ago, according to the BBC website. The former child stars, who were aged between five and 21 when they last saw each other, were brought back together by Yorkshire Television for a documentary about the making of the musical which earned over £600 million at the box office and won five Oscars. The hour-long special of ITV's After They Were Famous, which features previously unseen footage about the making of the musical, will be screened at Christmas.
