In being traded to Patriots, Kyle Van Noy went from ‘toilet bowl to the Super Bowl’

Ever since he was traded to the New England Patriots, life keeps better for linebacker Kyle Van Noy.

Fresh off his fantastic performance in Super Bowl LIII, Van Noy has been featured in a variety of interviews, including a pair of appearances with Barstool Sports.

After joining Dave Portnoy on Tuesday for an episode of ‘Barstool Pizza Review,’ Van Noy jumped on the well-known ‘Pardon My Take‘ podcast with Big Cat and PFT Commenter. There, he described how it felt when he was traded from the Detroit Lions, to the Patriots back in 2016.

“I’m gonna repeat what my friend said so I don’t get in trouble,” Van Noy said on Friday. “He’s like ‘You went from the toilet bowl, to the Super Bowl.'”

Van Noy then proceeded to joke about the ‘friend,’ saying: “That was KVN. This is Kyle Van Noy. I’ve got like double personas.”

Van Noy was drafted by the Lions in 2014 as a second-round draft pick, but said it wasn’t until he got to New England, where he felt he was being used right.

“Then when I got there, it was like, they had a plan for me,” Van Noy said.

“Then that plan got bigger with how I played. With that being said, I didn’t know that to begin with because I’d been in Detroit, where I was kind of told ‘We don’t know where to put you.’ And I’m like, ‘Why did you draft me?’ I had my own coach telling me ‘I don’t know where to put you.’”

Van Noy has arguably improved in each of his last three seasons, which have all ended in the Super Bowl. It appears he is pretty thankful to be in New England.

Van Noy also spoke of Bill Belichick’s somewhat-secret confidant, Ernie Adams, adding in a cool nugget about a man that has no doubt helped the Patriots win many big games.

“He’s the man, silent assassin,” Kyle Van Noy said. “He’s smart as [expletive]. He’s very wealthy. He’s made a bunch of money off the field. I have sat and talked to him about Wall Street stuff — [it went] over my head.”

As impressive as Van Noy has been on the field, he’s been a pretty enjoyable guest off of it.
