In an alternate reality, Antonio Brown is totally a Dolphin

This time, it counts. We thought we had a trade for Antonio Brown at the end of last week when the Buffalo Bills came calling. But Brown had other plans, ones that didn’t involve him playing in Buffalo.

But now? We have a deal. The Oakland Raiders (of course it is the Raiders) have traded for the disgruntled superstar and are paying him handsomely in the process.

If this was 2018, Brown is totally a Dolphin. Try to change my mind.

The draft capital expenditure for Oakland? A 3rd-round pick and a 5th-round pick. That is peanuts to former front-man Mike Tannenbaum. And if there was ever an owner so willing to dish out big money, it’s Stephen Ross.

That willingness is Ross’ best and worst quality alike. Credit to him for paying for the stadium renovations that helped totally change the experience at Hard Rock Stadium. But it’s also led to bandaid splash signings like Ndamukong Suh, who never really materialized the way they were supposed to.

Brown would have been more of the same in Miami. His mentality is the biggest wildcard in all of this, as he’s been acting erratic and even suggested he doesn’t need football.

We’ll see how much $30M guaranteed will change his mind. But somewhere out there amongst the cosmos, Brown is totally wearing aqua and orange.
