In a first, 4 AKTU research scholars to get gold medals

LUCKNOW: For the first time, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University will award gold medals to research scholars at the Centre for Advanced Studies.

MTech students Tushar Singh, Manoj Kaushik, Samarpit Verma and Avinash Bhashkar will be conferred gold medals during the university’s convocation ceremony to be held on December 16.

The young scholars have taken up new areas of research including finding a solution to the problem of oil leaks in the ocean at the time of extraction and transportation.

“I have been researching on developing a special sponge that can help absorb oil spilled into the ocean during extraction and transportation and avoid marine pollution. I want to work for the environment and research on technologies to curb all kinds of pollution,” said Verma.

“My research work is focused on medical informatics. I have been researching on deep learning approach to solve specific language impairment problem in children,” said Kaushik.

Bhashkar, who has been researching on mobile legged robotics and modular robots, said, “My research is on the legged robot which has articulated limbs, such as leg mechanisms, to provide locomotion.”

These robots, he said, are more versatile than wheeled robots and can traverse many different terrains.
