Improved Nottingham Forest transfer bid for winger 'coming'

Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to increase their bid for Blackpool winger Josh Bowler.

Forest were said to have had an approach for Bowler turned down on the eve of the window opening, but appear to be trying again.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Forest will restructure their bid so there is a larger payment up front.

Taking to Twitter, Nixon wrote: "Forest. Increased bid for Bowler at Blackpool coming. More up front rather than based on extras."

Bowler has also been linked with moves to Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City in recent weeks.

Forest, meanwhile, have been trying to sign Jed Wallace from Millwall and the winger was left out of the Lions' side that faced the Reds yesterday.

The 22-year-old has scored once in 26 Championship appearances this season, but his performances have been earning rave reviews.

Asked about the speculation, Blackpool boss Neil Critchley said after his team’s 1-0 win over Hull City on New Year’s Day: "I’m not going to confirm anything or get involved in speculation, that would be wrong.

"Silly season has started today, hasn’t it?

"You’ve only got to look at how Josh played today to see it didn’t affect him because I thought he was terrific.

"He’s been fantastic for us this season so we want to keep him at this football club."
