Impressive Warriors steal a point from Swat Cats

On target: Nakhon Ratchasima's Morgan Ferrier, right, celebrates his goal.

Hosts Nakhon Ratchasima let Lamphun Warriors walk away with a point following a 2-2 draw in their Thai League 1 battle on Saturday night.

The Swat Cats found themselves on the receiving end when Lamphun's Jeffren Suarez converted a penalty, but the home side needed only five minutes to get even thanks to a goal by their Filipino defender Amani Aguinaldo.

Morgan Ferrier gave Nakhon Ratchasima the edge in the 47th minute but their joy didn't last long as Kike Linares grabbed the equaliser for the Warriors.

Earlier on Friday night, Chiang Rai United coach Emerson Pereira was left ruing missed chances as the Beetles were held to a goalless draw by 10-man Khon Kaen United.

Former champions Chiang Rai entered the away match as heavy favourites as Khon Kaen have so far failed to reproduce their dazzling form of the last season.

The Beetles had the only real scoring opportunity of the first half but their star striker Felipe Amorin was denied by Khon Kaen goalkeeper Yodsapol Tiendard.

Khon Kaen were dealt a big blow in the 56th minute when match referee Arkom Charoensuk flashed the red card to penalise Parndecha Ngernprasert for a foul on a Chiang Rai player, reducing the home team to 10 men on the field.

There was more drama in store in injury time when Chiang Rai team manager Miti Tiyapairat was shown the red card for running onto the field to protest a ruling by the match referee.

Pereira felt his team should have won the game, saying: "We had lots of chances during the match but could not avail them. We need to improve our scoring and be more clinical in front of the goal."
