Nottingham Forest have had a mixed bag of results throughout the month of October.
The Reds kicked off the month with a 1-1 draw away to Blackburn Rovers, and that was followed up by a 1-0 win over Brentford at the City Ground.
But results soon went downhill, with Forest suffering back-to-back defeats to Wigan Athletic and Hull City. In fact, the loss to the Latics ended a 10-game unbeaten run in the league for Sabri Lamouchi’s side.
Last Saturday, there was an opportunity to end the month on a high with Reading due to face the Reds at the City Ground, but the match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
As a result, Forest will end October in 10th place in the Sky Bet Championship after picking up four points from a possible 12 on offer.
But one player who can hold his head high with his performances is Matty Cash, who has admirably filled in at right-back for the Reds.
Cash’s displays throughout the month have seen him earn a place in Sky Sports’ Championship team of the month.
The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Forest’s four Championship matches, and even netted a goal in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Hull.
So far this season, Cash has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Forest, netting two goals with his other strike also coming in a defeat when the Reds lost to West Bromwich Albion on the opening day of the Championship campaign.
Sky Sports team of the month for October: Kiko Casilla (Leeds), Matty Cash (Nottingham Forest) , Sean Morrison (Cardiff), Christopher Schindler (Huddersfield), Antonee Robinson (Wigan), Jed Wallace (Millwall), Izzy Brown (Luton), Matheus Pereira (West Brom), Eberechi Eze (QPR), Tom Barkhuizen (Preston), Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham).
