'Impossible' - Pep Guardiola makes Liverpool claim after Man City win over Chelsea

Pep Guardiola believes the Premier League title race is far from over despite Manchester City’s impressive points advantage over their rivals.

City are now 13 points clear at the top of the table following their 1-0 win over nearest challengers Chelsea on Saturday.

Liverpool are a further point behind in third spot but do have two games in hand over the league leaders, and Guardiola is adamant that the Reds are still a threat to his side.

“In January no one is champion," he told reporters after City's win over Chelsea.

"We can think about Chelsea but Liverpool have one game in hand against Leeds and if they win it will be eight points (provided they beat Brentford on Sunday)

“Eight points in January is nothing.”

Whilst Liverpool and Chelsea have faltered in recent weeks, City have maintained their consistency and stretched their winning run in the league to 12 successive games.

Guardiola added: “People are going to say it’s over and they know it’s not over, in January it’s impossible.”
