Important safety advice as NCT buses set to resume full timetable

A video has been released to reassure passengers that travelling by bus is safe with services set to resume to a normal timetable later this month.

Nottingham City Transport buses will run to a full, pre-coronavirus lockdown service from Sunday, June 28.

Having released a safety advice video, the bus company recommends planning and checking its website for latest information, sanitising and washing hands regularly and boarding the bus one at a time.

Screens provide a barrier and protection between customers and drivers and some seats have been closed to allow for social distancing.

It comes after new rules came into force from Monday, June 15, meaning face coverings will be a mandatory requirement to ride a train, plane, tram, bus or coach to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Anthony Caver-Smith, NCT marketing manager, said: “As we return to normal timetables at the end of the month, we understand that many people who haven’t used our services for several weeks will have questions about how to keep themselves safe.

"This new video outlines the key aspects of the safer travel guidance which will ensure everyone has a safe journey if they follow the Government’s advice.

“This week saw the mandatory requirement for passengers to wear facial coverings on public transport and we’d like to thank the vast majority of our customers who have complied with this request.

"There are a number of legitimate reasons why people cannot wear a facial covering, including hidden disabilities, so we urge people to show consideration towards other travellers who are allowed to travel without a covering."
