Princess Mako and Princess Kako, the daughters of Crown Prince Akishino, visited Meiji Jingu shrine in Tokyo on Friday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the shrine.

It was Princess Kako's first visit to the shrine and Princess Mako's third.

Wearing formal dresses and face masks, the princesses stood in front of the honden main shrine, offered a branch of a sacred tree and bowed.

The Emperor and Empress, along with the Emperor Emeritus and Empress, and Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko visited the shrine on Oct. 28.
