Impatient GMB star Alex Beresford 'desperately avoiding' Line of Duty

Good Morning Britain star Alex Beresford is 'desperately avoiding' the new series of Line of Duty and there's a big reason why.

The hit BBC drama's sixth series has blown everything else out of the water when it comes to TV ratings in the past few weeks, with millions of viewers on their edges of their seats week in week out.

After a rather slow start that was criticised by some long standing Line of Duty fans, the new run quickly picked up the pace and its last three episodes have been totally unmissable television.

The end of episode 4 gave us the 'mother of God' moment about DCI Jo Davidson's blood relative and then came the dramatic conclusion to Sunday's fifth episode as gun shots sounded out after Ryan Pilkington and Kate Fleming pointed a gun at each other.

Avoiding Line of Duty spoilers is a real minefield, but someone doing his best to steer clear them all is GMB presenter Alex.

Earlier this week, he revealed plans to binge watch the whole thing in its entirety, admitting he couldn't stand to be left hanging by cliffhangers every week.

He told his many Twitter followers: "Trying to avoid all things line of duty so I can binge watch it all. This weekly thing I don’t have the patience for!"

One fan told Alex they were attempting to do the same thing but a certain Channel 4 show was making it problematic, responding: "Me too, but really fed up with Gogglebox who feature clips every week."

However Alex's ITV colleague Steve Kramp told him: "Funny, I’m so old school. Even if I had a box set I’d still not watch more than one episode a week. I mean, where do people find the time?!"

Alex's admission comes after his GMB co-star Charlotte Hawkins was left reeling as Sunday's Line of Duty was spoilt for her on Monday's show.

Charlotte and her fellow presenters Adil Ray and Susanna Reid were joined in the studio on Monday by Ted Hastings himself, actor Adrian Dunbar, and before he appeared, footage of Sunday's shock shoot out played out on screen.

Susanna warned viewers: "look away if you haven't seen it," which prompted an annoyed Charlotte to put her hands over her ears as Adil shouted: "could this by the end of Kate Fleming?"

After the footage was shown, Susanna then asked Charlotte: "did you manage to stay hands over eyes?" to which Charlotte, whose fists were clenched to her face, replied: "no I couldn't, so now I know what happens...thanks everyone!"
