Imogen Tothill: Body found in woods confirmed as missing teen who never returned home

The body of a teenage girl found in the woods has been confirmed to be missing Imogen Tothill.

The 17-year-old, from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, was reported missing on Tuesday after she failed to return home.

Cheshire Police had been searching through the night and the force has now confirmed that a body was found yesterday, which has now been formally identified as the teen.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: "Formal identification has now taken place and the body has been confirmed as Imogen Tothill.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a case file will be prepared for the coroner.

"Our thoughts remain with Imogen's family and friends at this difficult time."

One of her heartbroken friends paid tribute to Imogen and said she knew this day would come.

Posting on social media she added: "I knew this day would come... I just wish it wasn't so soon."

"When I said you deserve the world, I meant you were the world to me, and I would give it all away for you.

"You had so much to give and so little time to show everyone.

"She is one with the stars, her true home."
