Immolation bid near CM MK Stalin’s house in Chennai, man hospitalised

CHENNAI: A 48-year-old man attempted self-immolation in front of chief minister MK Stalin's residence at CIT Colony on Monday allegedly dejected after having been denied a seat in the local body elections.

The man, identified as A Vetrimaran of Zamin Devarkulam near Kovilpatti in Thoothukudi district, has been admitted with 40 per cent burns in Kilpauk Medical College Hospital.

He is the president of Tamil Nadu Parayar Peravai and wanted to contest for the president post at Zamin Devarkulam panchayat, but was not the chosen candidate, said police.
