Immigration officers discovered an illegal worker after raiding a Wythenshawe pound shop

Immigration officers have found a man living in the UK illegally after raiding a pound shop in Wythenshawe.

Officers visited Pound Express on Hollyhedge Road at around 4.30pm on Thursday, in response to intelligence reports.

The Home Office has now confirmed that following immigration checks on staff, they discovered a 22-year-old Afghan man who had entered the UK illegally.

He must report regularly to the Home Office while his case is dealt with.

Pound Express, meanwhile, was served a Civil Penalty Referral Notice in relation to the illegal worker.
