The highly anticipated “Immersive Van Gogh” exhibit will call Chicago home for a little while longer.

Opening Feb. 11 at Lighthouse ArtSpace Chicago, a new presentation venue inside the landmark Germania Club Building (108 W. Germania Place) and originally slated to close May 2, the critically acclaimed immersive exhibition will now run through Sept. 6, it was announced Thursday.

The exhibit will also feature extended hours (opening at 9 a.m.), and offer Saturday afternoon VIP and premium tickets throughout February and March.

A new block of tickets ($24.99-$39.99) for the extended run go on sale at 9 a.m. Jan. 30 at vangoghchicago.com and by or by phone at (844) 307-4644.

The three-story Lighthouse ArtSpace Chicago facility with its Victorian-era architecture boasts 35-foot walls and multiple levels of exhibition space to accommodate high-def digital projections (enveloping visitors on all sides) accompanied by light, music and movement. The site-specific Chicago experience (the show had its world debut in Toronto this summer) is designed by Italian producer Massimiliano Siccardi, with music by Italian composer and pianist Luca Longobardi.

According to Thursday’s announcement, the hourlong “walkthrough experience” will adhere to all Chicago COVID safety protocols including touchless ticket-taking, temperature checks at arrival, hand sanitizer stations, social distancing markers and mandatory mask/face coverings.

“Immersive Van Gogh is a new way of encountering art, as it quite literally surrounds viewers on all sides with the brilliant work of one of the greatest painters of all time,” said Immersive Art Space Co-Producer Corey Ross. “Merging state-of-the-art technology, theatrical storytelling, animation and some of the finest works of art ever created, ‘Immersive Van Gogh’ is a uniquely mesmerizing experience that seemingly transports the viewer into the artist’s mind to see these timeless works as never before.”
