Monopoly fans, brace yourselves. An immersive version of your favourite board game is coming to London in 2020.
For the project, Hasbro Inc, which created the famous property game, has teamed up with production company Selladoor Worldwide, the team behind award-winning musicals such as We Will Rock You and Aladdin.
The live action version of the game will last 75 minutes and see participants take on a range of challenges as they make their way around a giant Monopoly board.
But all other details, including the launch date, are being kept under wraps for now.
David Hutchinson, CEO of Selladoor Worldwide production, said: “We’ve been working for over a year with Hasbro on this exciting partnership, developing our concept and vision to bring one of the world’s biggest board game brands to life in this thrilling experiential theatre landscape.”
Hutchinson added that there is an increasing demand to experience live theatre in new and unexpected ways, which is what he hopes the live action Monopoly will appease.
“[We] are moving in a very exciting direction with demand from a new generation of theatre goers looking to experience live theatre differently, and to be immersed in the narrative a different way,” he said.
