Immense possibilities in aviation sector: Jyotiraditya Scindia

INDORE: Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday said the aviation sector has immense possibilities and the need of the hour is to take the infrastructure to every corner of the country to assist flight operations.

Scindia was speaking to the media during his maiden visit to the region after assuming charge as Union minister. He was taking part in the Jan Ashirwad Yatra.

"In a country of 120crore people, only 20 crore travel by flight - 14.5 crore domestic and 7 crore international travellers. The possibilities are immense. We must provide strength to the country's airlines and lead infrastructure to every corner of the country," Scindia said.

"This is our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.., 'hawai chappal wala bhi hawai yatra kare' (a man wearing slippers should also get a chance to travel on air)," the Union minister added. Scindia stated that 363 new flights have been started since 2017, He said he also has a lot of responsibilities towards Madhya Pradesh and said, "We have recently connected Jabalpur with Hyderabad and Mumbai".

Scindia also took a dig at Congress and responded to Opposition leaders raising questions on his Ashirwad Yatra. "What should I say to Congress? Whenever my name comes, Congress gets a big itch and it i s quite natural".

The BJP Rajya Sabha MP also alleged that Congress changes colour like a chameleon and he has nothing more to say about the party.

Scindia landed at the Indore airport to embark on the three-day Jan Ashirwad Yatra amid chaos as a large number of BJP workers and leaders turned up to accord a warm welcome to their leader. He started the yatra after performing a puja at the Kshipra river and was on his way to Dewas and Shajapur.
