PANAJI: Goa governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Friday said the contribution of Sikhs to nation-building has been immense, even as he praised the community for being hardworking.
Pillai was speaking during celebrations to mark the 400th Prakash Parab of the ninth guru of the Sikhs, Guru Tegh Bahadur, at Raj Bhavan. The event was organised in association with the Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Betim.
The governor also recalled the contribution of the Sikh community in Goa’s freedom movement, particularly the contribution of Karnail Singh. He urged people to respect all religions in order to promote communal harmony, unity and amity. During the celebrations, the governor was felicitated on behalf of Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Goa and representatives of the associations of 11 states.
