Imelda May felt like she 'was going to die' over divorce heartbreak

Imelda May said she felt like she “was going to die” from heartbreak and grief after her divorce.

But the singer, who was married to musician Darrel Higham for 13 years before they split in 2015, credited counselling for helping her get through it.

The Dubliner, 46, who shares daughter Violet with her ex, told the Thanks A Million podcast: “Sometimes you just have to call things a day.

“With me and Darrel, we were together for so long.

“If you hear someone gets divorced, you see online trolls and all saying, ‘Oh my God, how
dare they?’ or ‘I thought they were happy’ or whatever. I don’t think it’s anyone’s business to comment on that.”
