'Imagine the announcement video' - Tottenham fans go nuts as club try to clinch Gareth Bale deal

Gareth Bale could finally be on his way back to Tottenham Hotspur after seven years away.

Departing the club all the way back in 2013 as Real Madrid agreed on a huge deal for the 31-year-old, his time at the Santiago Bernabeu could be about to come to an end.

The Welsh international is way out of favour with Zinedine Zidane and he has been linked with a return to the Premier League to either Spurs or Manchester United.

Well, football.london understands that the Lilywhites are attempting to bring him back to north London and are looking to agree on a loan move with the Spanish giants.

Bale's huge wages are a problem however and a deal would require financial help from Los Blancos to try and get a deal over the line.

Tottenham have already added three new faces this summer and have until Monday, October 5 to bring in any other additions to bolster Jose Mourinho's squad before the transfer window slams shut.

Bale returning would be a huge boost for everyone connected with the club and supporters have had plenty to say about the possibility of him finally returning home.

Here's what fans have had to say on Twitter about the attacker.

Bale has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital for some time now and he revealed earlier in the month on international duty that a move away was stopped last season.

“I tried to leave last year but they [Real Madrid] blocked everything at the last second,” he admitted to Sky Sports.

“It was a project I was excited for last year but it didn’t materialise. And there have been other instances but the club won’t allow it or something, so it’s up to the club.

“I want to play football. I’m still motivated to play football. I’m 31 but I’m in great shape still and I feel I’ve got a lot to give.

“We’ll see what happens. It’s in the club’s hands and they make things very difficult to be honest.”

When asked if he would like to return to the Premier League, he added: “It’s not really in my hands. If those options arise, it’s something I’d look at for sure.”
