The dining area is more than a space in the home; it's the story of how you and your family eat, drink, and enjoy each other's company. Wayne Sermon's breakfast nook memorializes this philosophy.
The Imagine Dragons guitarist's dining nook idea was created by Formm Studio, and it's optimized for joy and connection. It features a plush yellow banquet and oval tape nestled between modern windows.
Wayne's breakfast nook has been accessorized with a collection of hand-painted bowls and a stoneware vase, adding a sense of character and warmth. It's a jewel box of warmth and comfort.

This yellow curved loveseat is similar to the style of the one in Wayne's home. It would look gorgeous paired with a wooden dining table.
This beautiful curved dining table would be the perfect accent in a breakfast nook. Its two legs and curved shape feel at once modern and classic.
A stoneware vase like this affordable terracotta one from Amazon is the perfect way to bring a sense of history into your dining nook. It adds much needed height and history.
Design insiders agree that Wayne's dining format is a highly desirable feature.
Tiffany Duggan, founder of London-based design studio, Studio Duggan, explains: 'I love to use a smaller dining nook or banquette seating in our projects, in addition to a larger dining table where space permits. Most clients like the ability to seat ten to twelve at the dining table, which can feel a little much for everyday use.'
This dining room idea is as impressive functionally as it is design-wise.
'In addition to creating a more intimate dining experience, a smaller nook is so flexible - it can be used for occasional working from home or homework, having coffee or cocktails with friends, as a family games table, or even simply as a supplementary spot to lay out food and drinks when entertaining. A banquette is an excellent way of adding interest and practical use to a dark corner and can be a real focal point,' explains Tiffany.
She continues: 'They're also true space savers, because a bench, unlike a chair, can sit flush against a wall.'
If you hope to incorporate Wayne's alternative to dining chairs into your own home, there are a few practical considerations to take into account.
Tiffany advises: 'For durability, I recommend choosing a heavily patterned fabric or an outdoor fabric, which can be far more easily cleaned. After all, the purpose of a nook is not to fret over sticky fingers or spilled Whisky Sours!'
Elevated approaches to dining don't need to be complicated; they happen when you create the perfect blend of function and form. Banquette seating in a dining nook is the perfect place to start.
