'Imagine being ex-European Champions and not being able to drain out a bit of water' - Reading fans left fuming

Reading supporters were far from impressed with the decision to postpone their game at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.  

Shortly after midday referee Geoff Eltringham, in conjunction with both clubs, decided the City Ground playing surface had taken too much of a battering in recent hours.  

Heavy rain in the city had left 20 percent of the pitch completely unplayable, and despite the best efforts of the club’s groundstaff were unable to prevent a second game in two years falling victim to the adverse weather conditions.

The Royals came into the game unbeaten under new manager Mark Bowen, having beaten Preston and drawn with QPR in midweek, but saw hopes of any further progress curtailed in the East Midlands.

A date for the rearranged fixture has yet to be confirmed, with the EFL saying discussions will take place in the coming days.
