Images released after large vehicle fire closed road in Nottinghamshire

Crews were called to a large vehicle which had become engulfed in flames.

At approximately 5.34pm on Monday evening (March 22), Eastwood, Stockhill Fire Station and Ashfield Fire Station were called to the Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) fire on Willey Lane, Moorgreen.

The LGV was "well alight" and crews quickly started putting the fire out using hose reels with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

The road was closed in both directions to allow firefighters to work safely and keep members of the public away from the fire.

And the lorry was left in the hands of the driver and owner to arrange recovery after it was extinguished, Eastwood Fire Station confirmed.

It added on its Facebook page: "If your vehicle does start smoking/catch fire please pull over as quickly and safely as possible.

"Use street signs or apps like what3words to give emergency services your location.

"Stand well back in a place of safety.

"Never drive through a road closed or move cones/signs out of the way to drive through them, they are there for a reason."
