The images of Newcastle United Castore kits that emerged after £5million deal reports

Newcastle United could be set to switch kit suppliers, with reports claiming Castore will take over the deal when the Puma agreement is scheduled to end this year.

We've now received word that there is something in those reports, with Castore "excited" about the deal.

Reports of a £5million-a-year deal emerged on Friday - although Newcastle and the challenger brand are yet to speak out about those claims. Puma signed a short-term extension last year as takeover talk bubbled away with the consortium understood to have plans to examine all of Newcastle's commercial arrangements.

Castore positions itself as a "luxury" sporting brand and currently makes kits for Glasgow Rangers, as well as signing up Andy Murray as an ambassador.

On Sunday images emerged from respected kit-focused website Footyheadlines.com of possible designs of a United strip made by Castore over the weekend.

With no deal yet inked, they remain concept designs but show how the brand might reimagine the Newcastle strip if they do take over the contract.

Castore have changed the Rangers strips to include cleaner lines and also produced a retro kit for the SPL giants.
