Image released of man as police continue probe into George Square assault

An image has been released of a man in connection with an incident of assault in George Square this summer as officers make renewed appeals for information.

The city centre attack occurred on Sunday, June 14 at around 1pm when a 25-year-old man was assaulted and subjected to racial abuse by a crowd gathered in the area.

There was a heavy police presence in George Square that day as officers responded to hundreds gathering in the city centre for protests.

Police Scotland is appealing for anyone with information about the man in image to come forward and say they believe he may have information that could assist them with their enquiries.

A statement from the force reads: "Anyone who recognises the man in the image is asked to call officers at Stewart Street CID via 101, quoting incident number 1027 14 June.

"Alternatively, information can be given via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained."
