Why Eastern Michigan Will Win
The Illinois offense came back to earth last week against UConn. It got the job done in the 31-23 win, but it also stalled in the second half.
The Eastern Michigan defense might have had problems against Kentucky, but overall it’s just tough enough to keep the big plays to a minimum. On the other side, it has a quarterback with the upside to keep the pressure on.
There wasn’t any running game against UK, but Mike Glass can run a little but, and he threw for 337 yards and two scores. The Illinois secondary picked off a few passes against UConn, but it also got hit for way too many big plays. Glass will keep on throwing.
Why Illinois Will Win
Kentucky’s offense worked, even after QB Terry Wilson was knocked out of the game with a season-ending knee injury on an ugly horse-collar tackle. The Wildcats were able to run the ball without a problem, and now Illinois will give it a shot.
The Illini were held in check by UConn, but they got a good passing game from Brandon Peters with four scoring throws, and there were just enough decent runs to take a little pressure off.
The defense has been a terror in the backfield over the first two games, and in this, it’s going to swarm all over Glass. UK had no problem getting behind the line, and neither will the Illini.

What’s Going To Happen
Eastern Michigan had a habit of keeping games close over the last few years, but it never slowed down Kentucky when needed. The Illini will run a bit better, the run defense will come up with a strong performance, and at home, it’ll be a much easier win than the trip to UConn.
