Illinois bowhunters continue to harvest deer at a pace faster than at the same time last year. It will be interesting to see if that pace holds or increases during the heart of the rut the next couple of weeks.

Here’s an update on the 2019-20 Illinois Archery Deer Season from the IDNR Division of Wildlife Resources:
ARCHERY DEER SEASON
Through Sunday , October 27, 2019, Illinois archery deer hunters harvested a preliminary total of 18,166 deer, compared to 17,540 for the same period in 2018.
Harvest to date has consisted of 64% does and 36% males (11603:6563).
The top five counties for preliminary archery deer harvest were Fulton (501), Jefferson (494), Pike (491), JoDaviess (377), and Williamson (377).
