Ilkay Gundogan has challenged his Manchester City teammates to produce the same level of performance they showed at Manchester United when they play lower-profile games.
City were brilliant at United, pressing the hosts back and restricting them to a chasing role as Pep Guardiola's side dominated from start to finish.
It was one of City's most complete performances of the season, closing the gap to Premier League leaders Chelsea to three points after they were held to a draw at home to Burnley.
This was a result that gave City the momentum back in the title race, but Gundogan was keen to stress that it means nothing if they can't replicate the application in less glamorous games.
Speaking to City's media team, Gundogan said: "We got some good results in these kind of games this season, it's about repeating that game by game.
"We lost points against other teams that was not necessary, it's about improving in these games as well, not to give easy points away because the Premier League seems to be more competitive to win it. The amount of mistakes must be so so low. The points we drop could be very crucial at the end of the season."
Despite his warning, Gundogan said the United win was enjoyable for the City team and praise the performance of his team.
"It was really fun actually, quite enjoyable," he said. "It was a great first half where we could have scored even more goals. It could have been three or four at half time. Their keeper made some incredible saves in the first half, it was great.
"Second half it was about being patient, keep the ball, keep possession, pass the ball, get into a certain rhythm and not give them any chances. I can't remember them having a chance in the second half.
"It's an incredible stadium, an incredible team. It's something you can't expect but we came to and the way we approached the game and played throughout the 90 minutes was impressive. Now we have to maintain that after the international break and continuing to do that."
