Ilkay Gundogan reveals which trophy he would prefer to win at Man City this season

Man City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has revealed that he would rather win the Champions League than the Premier League this season.

The questions was posed to Gundogan in a Q&A on his Instagram account, which revealed some other interesting answers.

City are still on course to win both trophies, even though it would be an incredibly difficult task.

The Blues are neck and neck with Liverpool in the Premier League title race, with City currently sitting top by a point but that will likely change by the time they play in the league again.

In Europe City are through to the quarter-finals and will face Tottenham Hotspur over two legs and, should they advance, would face either Juventus or Ajax in the semis.

City could still claim an unprecedented Quadruple as they've already won the Carabao Cup and will face Brighton in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday.

However, if given a choice between the league and Champions League glory, Gundogan knows which one he would pick.

"Defending the EPL would be an amazing achievement," he wrote on his Instagram story, "but if I have to decide I would prefer the UCL to be honest..."

"I already lost one UCL final, but i think I could forget this experience if i can finally win the title!"

Gundogan was a part of Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund side that made it to the Champions League final against Bayern Munich at Wembley in 2013.

Man City's Zinchenko provides injury update ahead of FA Cup semi-final vs Brighton

The German midfielder scored the equaliser for Dortmund from the penalty spot but Arjen Robben would grab a last minute winner for Bayern.

Gundogan also revealed that Lionel Messi, David Beckham and Juninho are his favourite free kick takers, that the best thing about living in Manchester is that the "people living here are always very polite and respectful" and that his preferred position is the No.8 role.

This may be of particular interest to City fans as Gundogan has been required to fill in as a defensive midfielder in recent weeks in place of the injured Fernandinho and has played very well there.
