Ilford stabbing: Tributes pour in for ‘good guy’ fatally knifed after fight broke out at party

This is the first picture of a young man who was fatally stabbed when a fight broke out at a warehouse party.

Akeem Dylon Barnes, 24, collapsed on a petrol station forecourt as he was being driven to seek help following the knife attack in Ilford, east London.

He was taken to hospital and pronounced dead at 12.36pm on Sunday, six hours after police had been called to a brawl outside the rave in a derelict garage near Goodmayes station.

His killing was one of five deaths in 48 hours being investigated by Scotland Yard over the weekend.

Mr Barnes’s mother was too distraught to speak as relatives and friends held a candlelit vigil outside the family home in Clapton last night.

One friend said: “He was the humblest, sweetest guy you could meet and lots of people loved him. He was a good guy. He didn’t deserve to die, he didn’t do anything wrong. His family has been torn apart.”

Another said: “I’ve known him all my life, he wasn’t in a gang or anything like that, he was a good guy.”

Tributes were also posted on social media by members of the east London rap group NSG, and another friend wrote: “RIP king. A guy with a big smile, he’ll be missed.”

CCTV obtained by the Standard shows the moment a hooded knifeman lunged at partygoers as they fled the party, in Telegraph Mews, at just before 6am on Sunday.

Minutes later, police were called to a petrol station two miles away in Ilford Lane, where CCTV showed Mr Barnes staggering across the forecourt before slumping against a wall.

Mr Barnes’s death came after Randy Skuse, 27, was fatally knifed as groups of men clashed over a spilt drink at a house party in Whitechapel on Saturday morning.

Hours later Mehran Heydari, 26, was found at the wheel of his car with knife wounds in Ealing after crashing as he tried to drive himself to hospital after an argument.

Police are also investigating the death of a 38-year-old man found by binmen at 8am on Monday in a bag in Lovett Way, Neasden. Anyone with information should call police on the 101 line.
