Detectives investigating the death of a “loving and devoted” father-of-two in east London have charged a man.

Jason Diallo, 30, died after being shot in the head by suspects who fled the scene in a 4x4.

Paramedics battled to save him but he died at the scene in Balfour Road, Ilford, on Sunday, November 1.

Just minutes later, police were called to reports of a shooting on Garvary Road, in Canning Town.

A man was rushed to hospital with injuries which were later assessed as not life-threatening.

On Thursday, Mushin Mohamed, 24, of Leytonstone Road, was charged with murder and attempted murder over the two incidents.

He is due to appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court later today.

Mr Diallo’s death marked the fifth murder probe in the capital in four days.

His family said in a statement: “Jason was a kind, gentle and loving man, who was an amazing husband and a devoted father to his two children who he absolutely adored.

"We cannot describe how sorely Jason will be missed by all of his family and everyone who knew and loved him.”

Detective Inspector Perry Benton, leading investigations, said: “Jason was attacked by the occupants of a car who shot him and left him dying in the street.

He continued: “My message to members of the local community is to come forward and tell my officers anything that could progress this investigation – Jason’s family deserve to know what happened and see those responsible held to account.”
