Back in 2019 when Ikumi Nakamura left Tango Gameworks, many wondered where she would end up. Now we know that place is a new game studio in Tokyo called UNSEEN.

While there’s not much in the way of what this new studio will be making. Like many out there, I am curious as to what Nakamura and her team will get up to.

Regarding the latter, it’s clear that Nakamura’s new studio has an experienced team already onboard. Namely that of Naoki Katakai (Tango Gameworks) as CDO & Environment Art Specialist; Liam Wong (Ubisoft) as Visual Director; Raúl Ibarra (Moon Studios) as Animation Director, Misuzu Watanabe (Capcom) as Game Director and Akiyoshi Nishikawa as concept artist and illustrator. UNSEEN is also made up of the following members: David Steinberg – CTO, Futoshi Miyamoto - CIO, Aaron Packard - Senior Gameplay Engineer, Brian Wanamaker - Senior Development Manager, Eriko Nagasawa - Assistant Manager, Fumie Kishiwada - U.S. Manager, Gus Martin - Gameplay Engineer, Johnny Byrnes - Technical Game Designer, Justin Nesbit - Level Design Director, Kenan Alpay - Senior Game Designer, Mai Mattori - Concept Artist, Miho Nakagawa - Assistant Producer and Shane Canning - Senior Level Designer.

Nakamura will be the studio’s CEO and Creative Director, but as with all decent game studios the fact she has a solid team means that this new setup will likely bear some very interesting gaming related fruit down the line.

There’s also an interesting video about the studio (shown below), where Nakamura outlines her hopes and overall vision for this new game studio.

As with all things, I wish the staff at UNSEEN the best of luck with their new gaming endeavors.
