Iker Casillas suffers heart attack at Porto's training ground, according to reports in Portgual

Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has suffered a heart attack, according to reports in Portugal.

The former Real and Spanish star was taken to Hospital CUF in Porto but is said to be in a stable condition.

The 37-year-old signed a new contract with Porto in March for one more season with an option for another campaign.

Casillas left Madrid for Porto in 2015 but is naturally not expected to finish the campaign following the incident.

After signing the new deal, Casillas explained: “When I got here, many would think it would be to play a year or two and finish. I only have words of appreciation to this club. Not only to the club but to the city itself.”

Casillas played under current Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez at Real and was the first player that the Spaniard spoke to when he took over at the Bernabeu. The two enjoyed working together and Benitez was interested in bringing him to St James' Park .

Casillas recently revealed Newcastle was his favourite English club.
