Iker Casillas has been offered Real Madrid return, reveals Bernabeu legend

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has revealed he has been offered the chance to return to the club.

Casillas, who suffered a heart attack in 2019, announced his retirement last week and hinted at a possible role at Real in future.

The 39-year-old left Madrid under a cloud in 2015 and spent the rest of his playing days at Porto, but admits his relationship with Los Blancos has since improved.

"My Real Madrid exit was traumatic, but it is my home," he told Semana.

"We broke up like when a marriage breaks up and you tell each other about everything and there were phrases wrongly said and out of context, but time passes and everything calms down.

"After two or three years passed, I had a calmer relationship with Florentino [Perez]. He told me that he had to be here."

The former Spain skipper admitted that a conversation had already taken place over a possible return.

"Now, in August, we will talk because Real Madrid is my home and my life," he said.

"Florentino recently called me to make me an offer and now, when I am in Madrid, we will talk."

And Casillas, who said he would not risk his health by playing professionally again, added: "There is still nothing agreed, but I'm confident my next stage will be at Real Madrid."
