Ikea website is down on one of the busiest DIY days of the year

It should be one of the biggest weekends of the year for homeware company Ikea, but customers have been left unable to use the website.

Customers are able to browse the homepage, but can't order online.

A note from the retailer says: "Oops! We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with the website and this is impacting processing any online orders and some functionality.

"We are working to fix the issue and apologise for any inconvenience caused."

When you click on a department to browse, such as wardrobes, a message pops up saying "Preparing the room of your dreams! We're doing some work on this page, getting it ready for you."

The Sun reported that the website has been down since Saturday afternoon.

Ikea's support team confirmed to customers that the website is "not working correctly, so things are not showing as they should".

Another added: "IT are working to get this fixed as soon as they can. However if you can not see the items online then the items would most probably just be in store."

Ikea could not give any timescale as to when the website would be up and running again.
