Ikea urgently recalls product after 'chemical' fears

is urgently recalling items sold at its stores amid fears over high levels of chemicals present in the product.

The homeware giant is asking all customers who have a Troligtvis travel mug - in pink, blue and beige - marked “Made in India” to stop using it immediately and return it to any Ikea store.

Customers will be given a full refund.

has revealed that tests have shown potentially high levels of a chemical -  Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) - in some of their travel mugs.

On their website, Ikea, said: "Recent test reports show that the product may migrate levels of chemicals exceeding the required limits.

"Ikea takes product safety very seriously."All Ikea product types are continuously tested and comply with applicable standards and legislation.

"Ikea recently received test reports showing that the travel mug may migrate levels of Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) exceeding the recommended limits.

"The investigation has shown that travel mugs marked “Made in India” may be affected.

"They added: "Troligtvis travel mug has been sold since October 2019. "Ikea urges customers with the travel mug marked, “Made in India” to return it to any Ikea store for a full refund.

"No proof of purchase is required. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
