IKEA urgently recalling mugs which could leach chemical into drinks

Swedish home wares and furniture giant IKEA has issued an urgent recall for a travel mug amid fears it could leach dangerous chemicals into your drinks.

Troligtvis mugs were on sale from October 2019 until this month when tests revealed a potential problem.

A spokesman said: "IKEA urges all customers who have a TROLIGTVIS travel mug (pink/blue/beige) marked 'Made in India' to stop using it immediately and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund."

You will not need a receipt, reports The Mirror.

IKEA said: "Recent test reports show that the product may migrate levels of chemicals exceeding the required limits."

"All IKEA product types are continuously tested and comply with applicable standards and legislation.

"IKEA recently received test reports showing that the travel mug may migrate levels of Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) exceeding the recommended limits."

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause," IKEA said.
