IKEA has released a hot contender to the sought-after Always Pan by Our Place, and it’s a third of the cost.
The new KLIPPFISK Saute Pan is available from IKEA for $34, I expect this budget-alternative won’t be around for long.
You don’t get the array of color options available with the Always Pan, but it does come in an attractive gray-turquoise tone that’s easy on the eye. Plus, it has beautiful rubberwood handles, which really make the design stand out. What's more, its deep and wide design makes it suitable for a huge range of dishes, so it's not only good looking, but also highly practical.
The KLIPPFISK sauté pan is suitable for use on gas, electric and glass ceramic cooktops, and you can even use it on an induction cooktop.
Made from aluminum, which spreads heat evenly, it’s also finished with a sole-gel ceramic non-stick coating to prevent burning or food getting stuck on the pan’s surface. The interior of the pan is also rounded, making it easier to stir sauces without food getting stuck between the base and the sides of the pan.
The lid has a slightly different appearance from the pan, and the transparent tempered glass features a soft-closing silicone rim. The design allows you to keep an eye on your food while it’s cooking, while the seal helps retain moisture.

While the lid is locked in place, a steam vent reduces pressure inside the pan and prevents annoying boil-overs, giving you less to clean up after your cook. And to make life easier in the kitchen, the pan has two strainers on either side, so it doesn’t feel awkward to use, whether you’re right or left-handed.
As with the Always Pan itself, IKEA's new alternative is hand-wash only, so you’ll want to treat it with some extra care.
What’s more, if you’re looking for a matching set, you can also pick up the KLIPPFISK frying pan, starting at $29.99 at IKEA for the 9.5-inch version, or the KLIPPFISH saucepan with lid, at $29.99 at IKEA, though this comes in a black-blue colorway.
Why am I so taken with this pan? IKEA is onto a real winner. The design is modern and contemporary, and I love the colorway combined with the wooden handles. It won’t look out of place used as serveware, and it also offers the benefits of non-stick cookware. I can’t wait to see how it performs and how it looks on my cooktop!
