IKEA stores to remain closed 'until further notice' - what company has said

IKEA has confirmed it's UK stores will remain closed "until further notice" due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The UK remains in lockdown but several stores have been begun slowly reopening across Bristol and the rest of the country.

Homebase is one the many chains which are now open to customers, with the Portishead store reopening earlier this morning (May 2) after rival DIY retailer B&Q reopened some of its branches too.

Other big names, such as KFC and Burger King, have also reopened in Bristol with social distancing measures in place.

However, IKEA, which has a store in Eastgate, is not following suit and will only welcome customers back when government guidance allows.

An IKEA spokesperson said: " For now, all stores across the UK and Ireland remain closed until further notice.

"We continue to monitor the situation closely and look forward to welcoming customers back to our stores in the future, in line with government guidance.

"While our stores remain closed, customers can shop our full range online. "
