IKEA has certainly come a long way from its budget-friendly home furnishings and storage solutions, and is now making waves for its clever smart home devices.
The brand has just released four of its five smart sensors ahead of its original launch date of January 2026. And while IKEA had announced 21 smart home gadgets in November for the European market, it hadn’t yet shared the official pricing and availability in the U.S.
Here's what's new.
IKEA's new smart home sensors
So what can we expect? The new smart releases include a window and door sensor that can alert you whenever a window is left open or closed. This comes in handy if you forget at night and is a useful security measure.
Perhaps my favorite handy gadget is the water leakage detector that essentially lets you know if there is a leak in your home. Not only will this eliminate the risk of flooding in your kitchen or bathrooms, but it could also save you money on utility bills.
Other gadgets include smart bulbs and motion light sensors. These can also connect to 10 other light sources (via the app) if you want to go for a more integrated, smart lighting system.
This early arrival will come as good news to IKEA gadget fans, as all are Matter-compatible. Meaning that you can easily integrate the range with your existing smart home devices — via HomeKit, Alexa, SmartThings, Google Home, or even Home Assistant.
What’s more, these handy sensors are versatile, and start from just $7 — so they won't break the bank.
Kajplats smart bulb collection

The fifth gadget set to be launched is the Kajplats smart bulb, designed to fit into any IKEA lamp to give it a premium upgrade.
From what we know so far, it comes in eleven different styles, sizes and lumen levels — with options for both color and white spectrum. Plus, these smart bulbs are dimmable which is ideal for winding down at the end of a busy day.
However, those looking to get their hands on the Kajplats smart bulb collection will have to wait a little longer. But we'll keep you posted on the exact pricing and availability as soon as we can.
