IKEA recalls thousands of baby bibs due to choking hazard

IKEA is urging Scottish customers to stop using and return a baby bib due to a choking hazard.

The two-pack of blue and red bibs have been recalled after a report that the button can come off and present a potential accident for children .

A global recall is underway and anyone with one of the bibs will be able to return the product for a full refund, or similar product.

Customer do not need a receipt or proof of purchase to return the MATVRA product.

Around 3,796 were sold in the UK, the chain has said.

Emelie Knoester, Business Area Manager at IKEA of Sweden, said: "The safety of customers is a top priority for IKEA, where all products are tested and comply with applicable standards and legislation.

"It has come to our attention that there is a risk for the button to come off if the child pulls at it, which is why we choose to recall the children’s bib MATVRÅ Blue/Red 2-pack as a precautionary measure.

"The bibs with the same name, MATVRÅ, in fruit/vegetables pattern, green/yellow, are safe to use due to different material and design.”
